Art of the Southwest by Canyon Country Originals

We
are the exclusive Internet representative of Nighthorse jewelry, by
Ben Nighthorse Campbell! His work includes silver, gold, and
silver/gold combinations, many set with semi-precious stones. He has
received more than 200 first-place and best-of-show awards. We are
certain that you will be drawn to his creations as much as we are.
These jewelry pieces by Ben Nighthorse Campbell are
made in his studio in Ignacio, Colorado, in the Four-Corners Area.
Much of Ben's time is spent in the business and political arena, and
so the Ignacio studio is run by his wife, Linda Campbell.
Today, Nighthorse's work stands apart from so much jewelry made
with lesser materials and craftsmanship. He insists on using only
the finest natural gemstones, and insists on using 18 karat gold and
sterling silver. If you own a piece, you'll understand why it is in
such demand. (Because of the great fluctuations in the metals
market, price for gold is quoted at the time of your order.)
For gemstone jewelry, choose from custom combinations of various
opaque, semi-precious stones, including sugilite, coral, pink coral,
turquoise, lapis, black onyx, white onyx, malachite, charoite,
chrysoprase, jasper, variscite, agate, jade, and also from shell,
and mother of pearl. Nighthorse jewelry includes distinctive
bracelets, rings, pendants, earrings, bolos and belt buckles.

Senator
Ben Nighthorse Campbell was one of the three major speakers at
the opening of the National Museum of the American Indian,
September 21, 2004. He has been a prime mover of this endeavor.
In 1989, then a Congressman, Campbell sponsored the bill to
authorize the establishment of the Museum. Senator Campbell,
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, served as
Chairman of the Honorary Fund Raising Committee. As a Native
American jeweler, you will see a display of Nighthorse jewelry
at the Museum. He is a member of the Northern Cheyenne.

A note about sizing: Ben Nighthorse
jewelry is custom made to fit you. Please provide us a ring size;
or, if you're purchasing a bracelet, an interior tracing of a
bracelet that fits you well, with the opening marked. However,
please mail the tracing to us, as a fax frequently tends to distort
the lines.
A note about gold pricing: As we have stated, Ben uses
only 18 karat gold in his jewelry. He believes that the luster and
color are worth the small extra price of 18 karat over, say 14
karat. Customers are often surprised when we quote the gold price of
a jewelry piece, compared to the same piece in sterling. In the
broadest terms, in today's market, the price of a troy ounce of 18
karat gold bullion is 35 times the price of a troy ounce sterling.
Additionally, the same volume of gold is approximately twice the
weight of sterling. Our prices are not this extreme, but know that a
piece of jewelry in 18 karat gold will be substantially more than
the same piece is sterling.
A note about returns: All Ben Nighthorse jewelry is
custom made to your size and stone inlay specifications. All Ben
Nighthorse jewelry is cast, using the "lost wax" process.
Therefore, it is impossible to stretch or bend solid rings and/or
bracelets. Since all stone inlays are precision fit, this makes it
doubly impossible to make a change. After customers place an order,
we allow 48 hours for them to change their minds. After that amount
of time, the order is considered "firm," and no changes
can be made, and no refunds can be made. If we make an error
regarding size or settings, we will either remake the piece, or
refund you money.

New Ancient Age Collection
Since Ben has retired from the US Senate, he has gone back into his
old passion, jewelry design. Picking up ideas from rock art on nearby
canyon walls, this has started a new collection.

relief, with ridge inlays on the sides: black onyx, turquoise, and red
coral. Inside the bracelet is the hidden beauty surprise, prehistoric
Anasazi animals carved into the metal.

Anasazi, Ancient Ancestors Of The Southwest
The four-corners area is the only place in the United States where
the corners of four states come togetherColorado, Utah, Arizona
and New Mexico. It was also the center of the prehistoric Anasazi
Indian culture, which include such sites as Chaco Canyon, Mesa Verde,
and Canyon de Chelly. They left traces of their civilizationpictographs
and petroglyphs painted and chipped on the canyon walls. Visiting and
studying these prehistoric designs has led to the interpretations you
see in the Nighthorse Rock Art Jewelry.
Item# BN18 -Rock Art Bracelet.
If you are a fan of the Southwest, this is the bracelet for you. Ideas
for this Rock Art series of jewelry came from Ben Nighthorse's travels
in the canyons of the Southwest. Throughout this area, prehistoric,
Anasazi Indians left images pecked into, or painted on to the cliff
sides. We now call these drawings "Rock Art." Ben has
incorporated some of these ancient symbols into this series of
jewelry, to remind you of the wonderful times you may have had in the
Southwest. (Shown left in a 2" cuff bracelet, 18 kt gold. Shown
right in sterling, 1" wide.)
Price: $490 (sterling) 1" wide.
$700 (sterling) 2" wide.

Canyon, and Canyon de Chelly.

Also available in 18 K gold, call for price.

to Native Americans, since they are symbols of rain and life. The
designs were inspired by the prehistoric, rock art designs found on
the canyon walls of Mesa Verde, Chaco Canyon, and Canyon de Chelly.

For Horse People.
Ben
Nighthorse Campbell is a rancher in Southwestern Colorado, as well as
being a US Senator. He raises, trains and shows Champion Quarter
Horses. This interest has led to his designs of jewelry with an equine
theme. He is especially noted for the spontaneous action he portrays
in his horse designs.
Item# BN2 -Sterling Silver Quarter Horses Bracelets.
Ben Nighthorse Campbell sketched this series of four poses showing one
of his Quarter Horse mares grazing in a pasture. He turned these
silhouette sketches into a beautiful bracelet. If you are a horse
person, you know how difficult it is to find drawings of horses that
have the correct proportions, head, neck, legs, hind quarters.
Spending a life-time on a ranch, and being an artist, Ben knows
horses. One look and you know this is a Quarter Horse. Wear this
sterling silver bracelet at the next horse show, and heads will turn.
Shown in sterling, 1" wide and 1/2" wide.

stallions (or mares, whichever). There are five silhouettes on this
sterling silver bracelet. This piece of jewelry will make you proud.

owns a ranch in the Southwestern corner of Colorado. (Shown in

A note about sizing:
Ben Nighthorse jewelry is custom made to fit you. Please provide us
a ring size; or, if you're purchasing a bracelet, an interior
tracing of a bracelet that fits you well, with the opening marked.
However, please mail the tracing to us, as a fax frequently tends to
distort the lines.
A note about returns: All Ben
Nighthorse jewelry is custom made to your size and stone inlay
specifications. All Ben Nighthorse jewelry is cast, using the "lost
wax" process. Therefore, it is impossible to stretch or bend
solid rings and/or bracelets. Since all stone inlays are precision
fit, this makes it doubly impossible to make a change. After
customers place an order, we allow 48 hours for them to change their
minds. After that amount of time, the order is considered "firm,"
and no changes can be made, and no refunds can be made. If we make
an error regarding size or settings, we will either remake the
piece, or refund you money.
